Reflexology

This is an ancient system of healing characterised by the use of the therapists hands only to apply pressures to reflex points found in the patients feet. These points relate directly to the different organs and parts of the body, when the reflex points are stimulated, the effects are felt in the corresponding part of the body. Reflexology is very often used in conjunction with other complementary treatments, enabling the whole person to be treated not just the illness.

ReflexologyOne of the greatest benefits is that a treatment reduces stress and aids deep relaxation. Stress is frequently a significant factor in the onset or prolonging of illness, depression and general poor health.

Reflexology is particularly helpful in cases where the area of injury or disease cannot be touched or treated directly, and where the patient feels extremely tired or is uninterested in body massage. Reflexology is increasingly being used by hospices in the long term treatment of terminal conditions.

A course of treatment taking 6 to 8 sessions at regular intervals is normally required to treat a specific ailment, but reflexology can be used to maintain good health on a once-a-month basis. Or of course can be used on a one-off basis just to spoil yourself!
