Craniosacral Therapy

What on earth is Craniosacral Therapy (Sacro-Craneal in Spanish)?

If you ask anyone who has experienced this therapy, you will probably find that they get a dreamy look on their face with a gentle little smile, and give one of the following answers:- It’s wonderful; you need to try it; the most relaxing treatment ever; gets rid of headaches, stress, aches and pains of all kinds; it’s modern magic!

The Fingers Have It !The answer is all of the above and an awful lot more. Developed from Osteopathy, the basic mechanics of Craniosacral Therapy, (CST), are that the brain (in the cranium) and the main nerve running down to the base of the spine (the sacrum) are surrounded by fluid contained inside a membrane: this fluid bathes the nerves throughout the body, and since it is pumped round (with a pulse similar to but slower than blood), any restriction in the flow can be detected and corrected by a trained and qualified practitioner.

The therapist only uses the pressure of a 20 cent piece, and although normally treated lying down, the most comfortable position for the patient may be adopted; as such the treatment is suitable for new born infants through to the very frail elderly. On this journey through life, CST can help with baby ailments; behavioural problems, particularly the ADHD, Asperger’s, autism group; pains because of braces and just being teenagers; pain from injuries, operations and adhesions; emotional damage with real and referred pain; long term and degenerative illness. The list is almost endless.

Since this pressure on the body is less than your winter jacket, CST is always worth a try, and often helps when conventional medicine is failing.
